Slightly Frustrated...

Our travel approval came today to Alberta Children's Services! It was very fast but I am feeling frustrated by the fact that our coordinator's aren't planning another trip until May 23rd! It feels like a long time to wait when we are ready now in every way. They will call us with a for sure date next week, but so far we are in a group of nine couples and five of those are waiting child families, which would be great. Our coordinator has apparently been doing a lot of trips and needs a bit of a break, which we totally understand, we just want Lilah home as soon as possible. Everything has been moving along quickly since our referral and now it feels like it is coming to a stand still... I will have to learn some more patience!

Lilah's Room

This weekend we painted and decorated Lilah's bedroom. It was so much fun to pull together and we hope she likes it! Now that her room is ready, I feel completely ready to bring her home...

Still waiting....

So we are still waiting to hear our travel dates and the wait is driving me crazy! I would love to have a date to look forward to and plan around. I am hoping to hear this week and I am hoping it will be a date not too far away! After two years of waiting for one thing or another in this process, I am completely done with the whole waiting thing!

The first picture is of Lilah (in the yellow pants, in the middle) at TCH with the nannies and other babies.

This is a picture of Lilah on the day she went to live with her foster parents and her foster brother.

Getting Ready

We had a very successful weekend getting some much needed things done around the house. We all did some spring cleaning jobs and I went through some of the baby stuff I had been collecting for Lilah during our wait. I have all of her items set out and ready to go (other than washing clothes) and the stuff I had bought that will be too small we will take and donate to True Children's Home. Yesterday, we moved Micah into Eli's room and they were so excited to finally be together! Micah tends to wander out of his room sometime in the middle of the night and crawl into bed with which ever brother will let him. Last night, he stayed in his own bed all night, so I think the sharing a room thing will be good for the next couple of years.

Lilah's room is now empty and ready to be painted. This will be so much fun to pull together! My parents are coming next weekend to help get it all ready.

Things are slowly coming together and feeling under control. It has been so much fun (even the spring cleaning) knowing that we are preparing our home for another child!

Edmonton Journal Games

Josiah ran in the Edmonton Journal Game finals on Saturday. He raced in the 200M and came in fourth in the first heat, so was finished fairly quickly. He is very fast and was racing with kids who train regularly and are a part of track teams, so we are very proud of him!

Abby's basketball team won the bronze medal in their league this week. When the season started out it looked rather dismal for this team! They worked hard and played hard all year and managed to finish off in third place.

We have seen huge improvements in Abby's game this year. She was one of the top players and was played non-stop. I guess being 5 ft. 9 in. is a good thing! We saw her confidence and leadership skills soar. Now it is on to badminton, track and swimming!!!

Bring Me Hope

I love this video and came across it again the other day, so I thought I would post it. You will have to turn my music off at the bottom of the page first...

46 Days!!!

Our Letter Seeking Confirmation has arrived! 46 Days! And Chinese New Year was in that timeframe as well.... I am stunned and happy and shaking with joy! Tim and I will go down to Alberta Children's Services tomorrow to sign it, so that it can be sent back to the CCAA. We will now wait for our travel approval and wait to hear from FOI regarding when we will go. Bob said he is waiting for the next few days to see who all will be getting their letters and then he will talk to Yulin about when our group can go get our children. From now until we travel usually takes 4-6 weeks. I am hoping for 4!!!

Melanie.... Lilah just might make it to your wedding after all!

40 Days waiting for Letter Seeking Confirmation - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

The first 40 days have gone by very quickly! We have received a lot of information about Lilah and have been keeping busy making lists, buying clothes and a crib, researching China and reading about attachment. I don't expect to see many more updates and pictures of Lilah until we go to get her.

We could see our LSC anytime between 60 days and 100 days. We are hoping for 60 days!
