What am I?

Can you guess what Lilah is going to be for Halloween?

Today we tried on her costume to see how it fit... She looked really cute! She wanted to be a monkey, but after three boys I convinced her something pretty and girly would be better!

She is a pretty little witch! I don't really like the whole "witch" idea, but the costume was too cute to pass up. She is a good witch.

I made cupcakes today for Eli and Josiah's class Halloween Parties this coming Friday. (I like to freeze them so they are easier to ice). Lilah really enjoyed licking the beaters!

Hhhhmmmmm.... she must get ALL of it!

This isn't the cupcake we made, I was in Airdrie this weekend and bought a selection of cupcakes from a cupcake shop, this is the one Lilah chose for her snack this afternoon.

Morning Fog and Pumpkins

I love Fall. It is my favorite time of year. This week we have been waking up every morning to fog and today it was especially heavy and beautiful, in an eerie kind of way.

Lilah and I went out to buy pumpkins for Halloween. I wish we had a pumpkin farm close by that we could visit to pick our own right out of a field, but there are none that I know of. She seems rather curious as we prepare for Halloween. My kids have chosen somewhat scary costumes this year and Josiah has a shark mask that she hates! She screams every time someone brings in out. Trick or Treating could be interesting.

Shopping for girls

I really don't enjoy shopping. But shopping for Lilah is so much fun and way too easy!

Clothes for little girls have changed so much since Abby was a baby 14 years ago.

I love anything pink. And purple. And green. And red. And blue.

I love that they make clothes for kids that are similar to clothes we as adults would wear. Lilah is all girl! She loves to dress up, especially in dresses. She loves pretty shoes and bows in her hair. She loves to pose for my neverending picture taking!

I missed her first two years and I want to play catch up. I never got those precious baby photos, so I try to capture her soft round cheeks and her tiny hands and feet and her playfulness. I want to remember every moment.

Today Lilah had four needles. Not fun. But she is pretty tough and so far there has been no reaction to the immunizations. We will see as the day goes on!

Her language continues to amaze us. Everything is in english and her sentences are getting longer and longer. Yesterday, she looked at me and said "I will be right back, okay mommy?"

She is potty trained during the day (as long as I take her every two hours), she will stay completely dry. She never tells us when she has to go. We still have her in pull ups in order to keep our sanity and in case we forget to take her. Often, she wakes up dry as well. We just need her to recognize the urge to go now.

The other children continue to smother her with attention and usually affection. I thought the novelty of her would wear off by now, but there seems to be no end in sight and that is awesome!

Happy Thanksgiving

We all enjoyed thanksgiving at Grandma and Grandpa's house! There was A LOT of great food and of course time with family is always so much fun. All the cousins have a great time together and Lilah fit right in! As you can see, she enjoyed the turkey...

Mooncakes and Snow

October 3rd was the start of the Moon Festival. We were in Canmore for a wedding and so we took our mooncakes with us so we could celebrate with my parents as well (who came to watch the kids while we went to the wedding). They are very pretty pastries filled with lotus seed paste and an egg. You really would like them to taste as good as they look, but they don't. Lilah doesn't seem to mind them though. And of course we will buy more next year (just not as many) and celebrate once again! We would have liked to eat them under the moon, as is custom, but in Canmore it was snowing and we couldn't even see the moon so maybe next year...

Lilah wasn't too sure about snow! We took her out of the truck when we got to Canmore and it was cold and the snow was falling around her and she freaked out a bit. We told her what it was and that it was okay to touch and that it is pretty and she will be seeing A LOT of it for the next seven months!

I have an amazing family. I have amazing parents and I have amazing grandparents. My grandparents have molded this family into what it has become. We get together every summer. All of us. This will likely be the last picture of all of us together (taken at my cousins wedding in July) because my grandma - who is and always has been the most amazing woman - has been having a hard time, with her physical health, with her mental health and it is just too hard on her to even travel for short trips and to be around so many people at one time. But I know that our family will continue to get together once a year and everyone will try their hardest to be there! I have an amazing family, thanks to my oma and opa.
