Tae Kwon-Do Tournament 2011

DSC_0012-2

This weekend was the Tien Lung Tae Kwon-Do tournament. Tim and all three boys are all in TKD and all four of them competed.

Josiah is the most exciting to watch. I wish I could have gotten clearer photos of him, but he moves so fast, it is hard to capture him! He got the bronze medal in patterns. He is a black stripe and will be testing for his black belt in March (along with Tim).

Josiah won the gold medal for sparring. He went up against one of his best friends at TKD and that is why they are smiling at each other in this photo... it wouldn't have mattered to them who won, they were just happy to be sparring each other!

Then we have Micah. He just started TKD this year and this was his first tournament. Micah got a bronze in sparring and a bronze in patterns.

Tim got his butt kicked. Well, not too bad! He still got the bronze in sparring and patterns.

My favorite photo... Eli defeated! I am not saying this in a mean way... Eli doesn't really care if he wins or loses, as long as he is having fun! And he does like to act a bit dramatic...

That looked like a lot of fun!! Arnie is so bummed he missed out!! He was looking at the pictures saying, "Oh man, that would've been so fun...I can't believe I missed it!" So next time he will definitely be there!! Good job Reigal boys!

Wow, great shots Paige.

I am still laughing at Eli and his defeated drama. And Micah must have been thrilled with his two medals, since it was his first tournament. I have no idea about TKD, but is the black belt the highest? Josiah sounds like he's doing super - getting a gold medal is pretty awesome - I love that he is unpretentious and just wanting to have fun with his friend!

Your boys have been raised so well Paige, to accept defeat so well and just wanting to have fun with a sport. I like that a lot.

Oh, and poor Tim!

This looks like lots of fun! It is great that the guys could be in the tournament together!

I attended a TKD tournament in Saskatoon when my son (Kevin) was still taking lessons. It was great fun to watch the skill, precision and technique at all levels. Your boys seem to have a healthy perspective on winning, losing and competition in general. Loved the picture of Eli's drama, along with the smiling Josiah after his sparring match.

Your pictures certainly captured the spirit of the event!

It looks like all your boys had a wonderful time :) Whether they kicked butt or got their butt kicked. :) Hope you are surviving the bitter cold!

What a neat sport for all the guys to be able to do. Love the expressions, whether it be defeat, concentration or pure joy.

That looks so fun!! Good job to all your boys. My sis is having a boy in May and plans to name him Micah. Does your Micah have any cute nicknames?

Tina, we often call him Mikey or Mikey John. Love the name Micah for both a boy or a girl!
