Today was Silas Day! We left very early in the morning from Beijing and arrived in Changsha, Hunan at 9 am. We went straight to our hotel and had some relaxing time before heading to the Provincial Adoption Office at 3:30 pm. We had to wait for about 20 minutes before Silas arrived, but it was exciting to watch other families receiving their children.
He was not happy when he arrived. He went between being angry and very, very sad. He would cry and cry to go home and see his Da Da (grandpa -- foster father). He wouldn't let me near him and didn't want his backpack because he said he already had one at school. He eventually decided he wanted it and put it on his back. The orphanage workers left and he then seemed to calm down, understanding that it was done and he just had to survive at this point. Our guide has been very good at talking to him and calming him down. He did seem very well prepared for this day and what was going to happen.
He sat in the van very quietly and just watched out the window as we headed back to the hotel. Once at the hotel, he came to me willingly and let me hold him. Once we got back to the room, he perked up very quickly and laughed and played with Micah. He is a bit of a goof ball and definitely all boy. Active and stubborn and went crazy in the bath tub with splashing and putting his head under the water.
He has already started calling me Ma Ma and has repeated some english words.
But I know you really just want to see the photos of our day... so here you go!
