Canada Day Weekend

We had such a great Canada Day weekend!

I think we found a little Alberta paradise...  three hours north of where we live -- which is already north! -- I don't think it ever got fully dark at night.   It was still light at 11 pm and started getting light by 2:45 am.   We enjoyed a Northern Lights show one night...

We camped for six days at Beaver Lake, with our trailer looking over the beautiful lake... our own private beach for the kids to play... our own private playground and a huge field for them to run in.  Even though this is bear country, we all felt safe everywhere we went.   Well... most of us!

We had some hot hot days and the kids all loved the beach!   I am pretty sure the parents did too.

One of our friends brought out his boat and everyone who wanted to, got a turn fishing.

There was a wild strawberry patch next to our trailer and the kids just helped themselves.

Oh, how we love this country of ours!

Isn't it the simplest getaways that the kids love most?! Looks like lots of fun! Reminds me of camping in bush and bear country in northern Ontario as a child. I have many great memories of my childhood camping days. We are heading out camping in a couple of weeks... not looking forward to it as much as I used to but I know the kiddos will love it. We tent now... not fun if it rains!
